| I want to introduce and tell you a bit about myself so that you know me as a person and friend and not as just 'the dog groomer' at Pooch Playhouse and Boarding. My name is Abbigail Hill, friends call me Abbi. I developed my special love for animals at age 5 when my parents bought me my first puppy. She was a black Cocker Spaniel named Oreo. She was the beginning of the wonderful bond and compassion that I have developed for animals throughout my life. After graduating high school in 1996, I knew I wanted to devote my life to helping and improving the life of animals. I attended Columbia State Community College and received my degree in applied sciences as a veterinary technician. While in school doing my technician internship at various vet clinics, I discovered the harsh realization that not every medical case had a happy ending. To me this was emotionally challenging, especially since I consider pets to be an equal part of one's family. I did some soul searching and decided that after graduating college I would go back to school and become certified in dog grooming. I felt that grooming dogs would be a way to help them feel better-because like humans, dogs feel better when they are clean and look better. Plus, grooming would be a way to use my creative and artistic abilities, since grooming is actually an art.

So, in July of 2000 I move to Lexington, KY and attended The Nash Academy of Dog Grooming; one of the best grooming schools in the country. I started with learning bathing techniques to get a dog "squeaky clean" and graduated five months later with the ability to hand scissor almost any breed. I returned to TN and worked under the supervision of a certified groomer, where I continued to build my skills and techniques for a year. Since then, I have been grooming full time and love it. I do continue to keep my veterinary technician license up to date. I am a proud mommy of 3 wonderful dogs: Nikki, a Maltese mix; Lucy, a Miniature Dachshund; and Jewel, a Great Dane. In November 2006 our family was blessed with a 2 footed addition- a beautiful baby boy.

I would tell you what I enjoy doing during my free time, but as many of you know a new mom doesn't have much free time. When I do get a chance, I enjoy doing craft projects such as scrapbooking. I hope this has given you an insight to who I am as a person. I know that your dog is more than an animal; they are your special family member and best friend. I know you want them to be happy and safe, especially when they are in the care of someone else. I would like to extend a warm-hearted invitation to come meet me in 'The Pooch Pamper Room' at Pooch Playhouse and Boarding. I look forward to seeing you.
